Sean Connell serves as Executive Director of the U.S.-Korea Business Council, and Director, Japan and Korea of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. As Executive Director of the Council, Connell manages, designs, and implements Council program and policy initiatives, including the activities of the U.S.-Korea FTA Business Coalition of which the Council serves as secretariat. As Director, Japan and Korea, Connell is responsible for developing and executing U.S. Chamber programs and policy activities relating to Japan and Korea. He works extensively with Council and Chamber member companies, Coalition member trade associations, the U.S. and foreign governments, and American Chambers of Commerce abroad. Connell has worked with the Council and the U.S. Chamber since 2003.

Prior to joining the Council and the U.S. Chamber, Connell served as legislative assistant to Washington State Representative Brian Sullivan and Washington State Representative Aaron Reardon, and was responsible for policy research and development, constituent services, and public outreach. He was actively involved in the development of state-level legislation on alternative energy, local government regulatory issues, and economic development. Connell has also worked as a coordinator for international relations with the Mie Prefecture Government in Japan, where he was responsible for promoting local-level internationalization activities.

Connell holds a B.A. with high honors in East Asian Studies from Wesleyan University, and an M.A. in International Affairs from George Washington University. He has also studied at Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan.
