Effective January 26, 2009 – Importer Security Filing “10+2” program

The Importer Security Filing “10+2” program became effective on Monday, January 26, 2009. The program was developed to help prevent terrorist weapons from being transported to the United States. Starting this week, vessel carriers bringing cargo to the United States (or delivered to a Foreign trade Zone) are required to transmit ten data elements to Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
