Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and Risk Management

Event Description:
The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) was signed in 1998 by the United States Congress and 33 other countries to reduce corruption and money laundering through the global financial system. The FCPA impact many industries including financial institutions as they are required to meet stringent requirements relating to the use of the global financial system by criminals.

Under the FCPA, it is an offence for a US person, entity and certain applicable foreign entities (mainly issuers of securities on a US exchange) to make bribes or offer any inducement for the purpose of obtaining or retaining business with a US firm. The Act extends to anyone transacting business while in the USA (www.fcpa.us).

During the seminar you will learn about:
- The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA);
- Industries impacted by the legislation;
- What do the FCPA Anti-Bribery Provisions Prohibit;
- What are the Accounting and Record Keeping provisions required by FCPA;
- Procedures for making third party agreements.

SPEAKERS:

	Tom Bowen is Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Operations America/Asia. He has most recently held the position of North American Sales Manager after working at SWECO for 16 years. Tom began his career at SWECO in 1989 as a design engineer and has held key positions in the laboratory, research and development, marketing, and international and domestic sales.
	Lisa Tucker has 20 years of experience providing tax compliance and consulting services to middle-market, closely held companies in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, construction, real estate, leasing, and hospitality. She has devoted a significant portion of her career to serving U.S. clients with international operations or foreign-based companies with domestic operations.
